Day -1

August 20th, 2007 by Johanna

From Johanna… Ethan slept the day away today. We switched to a new anti-nausea med, which includes Benadryl with it…this makes him very sleepy, but it works! He received his last dose of Cytoxan today…his counts are dropping, and should be bottomed out by the mid-late part of next week.

Because Monday, Day 0, Transplant Day, isn’t stressful enough, we have to add more stress to it. Yancy has been home sick all weekend, with fever and stomach problems. This means he can not come anywhere near Ethan, or 6 West, for many, many days.

Grandma Mary escaped the house today, Sunday, with Eliot, to get him away from sick Daddy…in hopes to keep him as healthy as can be. They’re at Uncle Nate’s, and will head in to the hospital tomorrow early morning. Uncle Nate will visit with Ethan for the morning, while Grandma and Mommy take Eliot to the OR, and wait for the bone marrow harvest to conclude. Grandma will stay over with Eliot in the hospital for the night. Hopefully they will be on 6 West, but if there are no rooms availalbe, they may be elsewhere.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers…please keep ‘em coming!…we need them right now: for Ethan to thrive, for Eliot to be the trooper he is, for Emma to take care of Daddy, for Daddy to get better, and for Grandma’s strength to continue…
