Induction II Chemo Schedule
June 6th, 2007 by Johanna
For those medically minded/inclined, here’s the schedule that Ethan is following for his chemotherapy in Induction II, the second phase of the treatment plan. The two major differences from Induction I, are that he now receives a low-dose of ara-C, where he received a high-dose the first phase, and that this is 8 days of chemo, not 6.
DRUG, HOW GIVEN, WHEN GIVEN
Low Dose ara-C, by vein over 30 minutes every 12 hours, Days 1-8
Daunorubicin, by vein over 6 hours, Days 1,3,5
Etoposide, by vein over 4 hours, Days 1-5

Hi Johanna,
Glad to read your recent the good news!
My friends Paula and Lisa (both of Concord) are doing the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society triathlon this weekend. I told them about Ethan, and Paula is going to make him her Honored Hero — his name will be on the back of her race shirt! She has also sent the word out to all of her supporters about the need for platelets at Children’s.
All the best,
Lydia
